Prof. Ioannis Xenarios

Head of Data Analysis Platform

A computer immunologist by training, Ioannis Xenarios obtained a PhD from the University of Lausanne and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. Upon completion of his PhD, he moved to UCLA University of California at Los Angeles where he worked on several comparative genomics and interaction databases to study the complexity of cellular networks. For eleven years, he led the Vital-IT and Swiss-Prot group at the Swiss Institute for Bioinformatics SIB. There he developed methods for non-invasive prenatal diagnosis, early biomarker discovery in diabetes, neo-antigens, systems immunology in cancer biology, integrative biology and proteogenomic approaches. Today, he is developing and leading the creation of the data analysis and interpretation platform at the Health 2030 Genome Center.

A member of several national and international organizations (ESFRI, IMI-JU, FRM and several journals), Ioannis Xenarios is also Professor of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at the University of Lausanne and Full Professor at the University of Geneva.
